The Per Hiller Collection

Per HillerThe Per Hiller Collection comprises the late Per Hiller’s personal collection of books in finance, economics, business as well as other social sciencesand mathematics. The Collection, which consists of more than 1,300 volumes, was donated to the SSE Riga Library by his family after his death in 2004.

Per Hiller (1946-2004) visited Riga for the first time in the early 1990s to lecture on finance to banking sector executives. In 1995 Per was asked to give the Finance course to the first class of SSE Riga students. This was the beginning of a long-term relationship that developed over the years. So did the course in Financial Economics, from something that was fairly short to the full-fledged course of today. To Per lecturing was a calling and commitment to the students was the lodestar of his professional life. Throughout the years Per introduced close to 1,000 SSE Riga students to the mysteries of internal rates of return and corporate valuation in his very special way – having had more than 10,000 students from undergraduates and executives in Stockholm and Riga, to Central Bank executives in the Dominican Republic, Per had a tremendous experience. SSE Riga is proud to have had him onboard. Per’s memory remains alive through the Collection and through the course in Finance that still carries his ‘trademark’.
